Harry Root

Harry Root is the founder of Grassroots Wine, a fine wine importer and distributor based in Charleston, South Carolina and Birmingham, Alabama.  Formed in 2003, Grassroots Wine represents place-driven winegrowers from every major wine region on the planet. Grassroots has long been a leader in bringing progressively farmed wines to market and educating the industry and the public about trends in emerging agriculture.  In 2024, Harry, his wife, Nicki, and Rajat Parr founded Living Roots Cotton Company, a Regenerative Organic Certified custom T-shirt business focusing on agriculturally progressive restaurants, wineries, and farms.

Harry split his childhood between Tampa, Florida and Sewanee, Tennessee, eventually graduating from the University of the South with a Natural Resources degree.    Harry has served on numerous boards including the Southern Foodways Alliance and the US Wine Trade Alliance.
