‘Emma M. Cromedy

‘Emma M. Cromedy and Sameka M. Jenkins are the dynamic sister duo behind the celebrated Carolima’s Lowcountry Cuisine.
Sameka’s love for cooking began in college, where feeding friends quickly blossomed into a passion. As a native of the Lowcountry, everyone expected her to know how to prepare classics like red rice and shrimp & grits—and she delivered with flavor and authenticity. Today, she is recognized as one of Charleston’s most sought-after Gullah chefs, catering events throughout the region and sharing the foodways of her heritage with every dish. Sameka has also been featured on HBO Max in Carla Hall’s Chasing Flavor, further highlighting her role as a cultural ambassador of Lowcountry cuisine.
‘Emma’s culinary journey started in the kitchen, where she was baking southern desserts as soon as she could reach the mixing bowl. She went on to found Charlotte’s first mobile dessert truck (SouthernCakeQueen) before bringing her talents to Charleston and teaming up with Carolima’s to delight guests with her southern desserts. From custom cakes and cupcakes to bars and cookies, her desserts always leave guests craving more. Her talent has gained national recognition—she’s been featured on Food Network’s Emmy-nominated Juneteenth special and appeared on Sugar Showdown, Spring Edition on the Cooking Channel. Beyond the spotlight, she is also a proud member of Les Dames d’Escoffier and serves as an at-large board member, championing women in food, fine beverage, and hospitality.
Together, Sameka and ‘Emma create the perfect balance of savory and sweet. Whether it’s Sameka’s soulful Lowcountry dishes or ‘Emma’s unforgettable southern desserts, Carolima’s is always serving food that pleases the crowd, honors tradition, and feeds the soul.
